Who is the DTV visa perfect for?

  • Net Worth: Less than US$10 million (if your net worth exceeds US$10 million, go for the Thailand Elite Visa).
  • Financial Status: Have had at least US$20,000 in your bank account for the past year.
  • Work Conditions: Do not plan to run a business or get a job in Thailand (digital nomad is fine).
  • Superior Benefits: The DTV visa provides better benefits, lower costs, and less hassle compared to other long-term visas.

*Beware of expensive, unnecessary agents*: Avoid visa agents who may push expensive and unnecessary services.

  • Stay in Thailand up to 5 years: The validity of each DTV visa is 5 years.
  • Enjoy multiple entries:  The DTV visa allows you to stay in Thailand for up to 180 days per visit, with the option to extend for an additional 180 days each time. This multiple-entry visa is valid for 5 years, providing flexibility and convenience for long-term stays. DTV holders can request to change the type of visa within the country, but this will terminate the DTV.
  • Family together:  If one member of the family gets the DTV visa, the rest of the family can join.

You can apply for the DTV in person at your local Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate, but remember to apply from your country of employment.  Contact them beforehand to confirm their specific process and fees, which can range from THB 9,000 to 40,000. Alternatively, apply online via the Thailand e-Visa website, where you can upload or mail your documents. While the e-Visa option is non-refundable, it offers convenience. Ensure you meet the e-Visa requirements and apply from a country where you can prove your presence.
